When people think of alcohol and cheese, the first thing that comes to mind is always wine and cheese.
It’s a staple in many cultures, and the popularity of the combination is undeniable. A good cheese pairing isn’t just limited to wine though! Beers have their own unique combinations with cheese, so I’m going to reveal some here for you to try.
If you’re having cheeses like brie and camembert, you should go with an IPA, a pale ale, a pilsner, or a porter.
The strong flavors will blend well with the creamy nature of the soft cheese, and the carbonation will cleanse your palate between each bite.
Harder cheeses like parmesan or basically anything with a rough texture are really good when consumed with stouts and porters.
You can also have blue cheese and gorgonzola with stouts and porters as they make for a great pairing as well.
Softer cheeses like Havarti, Gouda, and monterey jack will go excellent with an amber ale or a brown ale.
For these same cheeses, pale ales also work quite well, just make sure to get a flavorful beer that can match up to the amount of flavor in the cheese.
